Australia is the only country which spans over a whole continent. With is population of over 20 million people living in major state capital cities such as Sydney (State of New South Wales), Melbourne (Victoria), Brisbane (Queensland), Perth (Western Australia) Adelaide (South Australia) and Hobart (Tasmania). Australia capital's Canberra (Australian Capital Territory) is where the federal government is based. Several prestigious universities with campus holding more than 20,000 students are located in these cities.

The climate in Australia varies from tropical in the northern part to the more moderate in Sydney, Melbourne and colder for Hobart in the south.

Sydney is the capital city of New South Wales: The most varied of all Australian States. NSW offers snow-capped mountains with excellent skiing facilities and stunning golden sandy beaches. Sydney is a modern city with exciting modern architecture but it has retained much of its convict history in areas like the Rocks. With it's glorious harbour Sydney is arguably one of the most beautiful cities in the world

The famous Opera House overlooking the Sydney Harbour is well known around the world, as is the Harbour Bridge. But there are many other exciting places to discover including Darling Harbour, Kings Cross, the Sydney Markets, Paddington and many many more. Along the coastline, Manly, Bondi and the Northern beaches are popular places for tourists and residents to enjoy the scenery and outdoor activities almost all year round. People from over 100 countries around the world have now called Sydney their home, providing a colourful and vibrant fabric of life that is woven from this diverted background. As a result, food, arts and cultures from all over the world are presented daily to residents of this city, who always find new things to do or see every day.

A moderate climate: The wettest months are March and May; the coldest month is July and the hottest months are January and February. The average summer temperature is around 25oC (77oF). But it can sometimes reach 40oC (104oF) on a hot day! The average rainfall is 1,200 millimetres per year.

Population: With a population of over 6 million Sydney is Australia's oldest city and it's business and finance capital. Sydney Harbour offers the most spectacular setting for a city. The city is world famous for the Sydney Opera House, home to Australia's opera, ballet and theatre companies and symphony orchestras. Sydney is a dynamic, thriving multicultural city with a skyline that rivals that of Manhattan. Other attractions include the Harbour Bridge, Taronga Zoo, the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

The UPC campus is in the city of Bankstown a 20 minute train ride to the centre of Sydney. Bankstown is itself a bustling multicultural centre with many diverse restaurants, great shopping, affordable accommodation and work opportunities.
